The TomTom Go 740 Live: With the TomTom 740 Live Google Search TomTom users can access information and location details of more than 11 million businesses and turns search results into a destination with the press of a button. With the TomTom 740, results show the location name, a user-generated rating (if available) and phone number, so drivers can call ahead to book a restaurant or hotel of their choice, for example.

Also a new version of TomTom Rider: The Tom Tom Rider the sat nav designed especially for those on 2 wheels.TomTom Rider re-designed their GO device for use on a motorbike and the RIDER was born. Tom Tom 520 - How it Works

TomTom 520 Go comes with the latest and most complete maps of your region pre-installed. Door-to-door accurate navigation anywhere across your region.

The GPS software and hardware
Put simply, your Tom Tom 520 Sat Nav consists of two distinct elements: the software and the hardware.

A small computer inside your Tom Tom 520 device ensures the software runs smoothly. Depending on the device you’ve got, the software is to be found on either the SD card or the hard disk. The hard disk itself can store some 20GB of data.

A ‘boot loader’ in the Tom Tom 520 computer searches the hard disk or SD card for the software and your map data. It then transfers the software to the 64MB internal RAM memory in your TomTom and starts the software. Only that part of your map that’s actually needed at that moment is then loaded. When you consider that in 1991 an IBM personal computer ran on only 16MB, you realise what a powerful little device your TomTom actually is!

A Linux system in the Tom Tom 520 makes sure the hardware functions properly. The hardware itself starts the GPS and the navigation application. The navigation application then reads whatever settings you have installed, such as your preferred voice and your last chosen route.
